The Anthroposophic Nursing Association is a forum for practitioners who are actively involved in working out of anthroposophy as nurses, health care support workers and those who are engaged in providing training in the field of anthroposophic nursing, or who are undertaking such training.
Membership of the A-N-A
Dear Colleagues,
With the launch of the website www.a-n-a.co.uk for the Anthroposophic Nursing Association we would like to extend this invitation to join us in creating an organisation through which we can raise standards, communicate with one another at a professional level, take joint decisions on training and in the fullness of time, provide protection for our members as the professional associations and the unions do for nurses and health care workers.
The Anthroposophic Nursing Association represents Nurses as well as Healthcare Support Workers in the UK all who are working out of the impulse of, or interested to develop their understanding towards Anthroposophy.
You have no doubt become aware of the changes that have been taking place over the last few years in the Anthroposophic movement in response to the House of Lords Report (2000) recommending that complementary and alternative medicine should become self regulated.
This has been the reason for the development of the Council for Anthroposophic Health and Social Care the Self Regulatory body for all anthroposophic health and social care professions.
CAHSC aims to help protect the public by ensuring that those registered with it are safe and competent in their professional practice.
With the formation of CAHSC, all other groups within Anthroposophic health care have been challenged to form themselves into professional associations. The Doctors have the Anthroposophic Medical Association, the various therapy, healthcare and social care groups have united to form bodies such as ACESTA, Eurythmy Therapists, Rhythmical Massage Therapists and others have been involved within their associations to ‘professionalise’ their practices. This has been done by stating standards of practice, and by instigating policies and procedures in line with those used in professional practices in the NHS and approved by the NMC or the HPC.
The A-N-A is supporting its members to gain registrations with CAHSC when the relevant Criteria is met, which applies to registered nurses only.
In the light of these I trust that you recognise the necessity in our time to become a member of a professional association. I also hope you feel inspired to support our efforts and we will see you as an active member of the A-N-A.
Yours sincerely
